Evaluate the view that the Versailles treaty was a Carthaginian (that is stinging) peace
At the death of World state of warfare One after 4 long eld, the Allies had successfully defeated the central powers. This lead to the treaty of Versailles in which Germany were oblige to admit defeat, meaning they would have to pay harsh reparations, go away back land including colonies and forcefully weaken their phalanx, with the loss of soldiers and ammunitions. As many historians believe the Treaty of Versailles was too lenient because it tout ensembleowed Germany to recuperate politically and economically, it was in fact a Carthaginian peace. This is collectable to the harsh provisions of the treaty, Germany admitting defeat which meant taking all right for the war and the Allies not successfully enforcing the terms of the Treaty of Versailles.
When the Treaty of Versailles was formally announced on June 28th 1919, it carried harsh provisions which made Germany economically and politically unstable. At the end of World War One, the Allies aimed for a peaceful elimination which was fair for all countries.



This was because they wanted to ensure that a war on this scale would never occur again. However, the leaders of the rangy Three, Clemenceau, Lloyd George and Woodrow Wilson changed their ideas as they had realised that there people wanted them to punish Germany. The main terms the Treaty of Versailles were that Germany weaken their military by removing conscription and limiting the army to 100,000 men, to lose all colonies, allow Rhineland, which was Germanys main agricultural and economic character to be occupied by foreign powers for 15 years and war reparations which amounted to 6,600,000,000 Euro Dollars.
