Ecumenism, the reuniting of the Christian churches is not achievable some may say, but every day the Christian churches are working to unite us all and beget us closer together.
There is no denying that in Australia there has been a lot of sectarianism, for example when the first Europeans came to Australia there was 1 catholic man, for every 10 Church of England man. They were deeply suppressed and were given a hard time. They were considered lower part citizens; if it could be avoided they would not be hired at all. The intend was to keep them on the bottom of the food chain. We didnt even have our first catholic prime minster throng Scullin until 1929.

The Catholics were down trodden for decades until the end of World War 2 when a flood of catholic Europeans came to Australia; they increased their numbers becoming high then Anglican and Church of England.
