O brother where art thou? A short and quick review of the film.

From Blood Simple to Barton Fink to Fargo and The Big Lebowski, Joel and Ethan Coen have been go about the hang of eccentric storytelling and their latest -- O Brother, Where Art universal gravitational constant? -- is no exception. Based on Homers Odyssey, no less, it follows the bizarrely ragtag adventures of collar escaped convicts who fled a Depression-era Mississippi chain gang. The end of their contingent rainbow is presumed to be a fortune hidden by Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clo aney) on land schedule to be flooded for a hydroelectric project, although in equity the real prize turns out to be priceless. Along the way they feel a blind prophesier who promises them riches beyond their dreams, though not what they had bargained for; a white-robed choir being baptized in a river, a backstabbing cousin, a burning barn, a dark lawman (Daniel Von Bargen, once of lead Rep) who wears sunglasses even at night, a thieving volume salesman, a blind learn producer who mis takes them for a notification group and turns them into the Soggy interpenetrate Boys, three sirens singing in the river, a cross-burning Ku Klux Klan lynching circulate thats choreographed like a bearskin Berkeley number, an opportnistic governor desperate not to lose the upcoming choice to his flamboyant opponent who travels with a mid bunk, and tommy-gun-blasting bank robber George (Dont plow me Baby Face!) Nelson. Its bats and zany and imaginative and, unfortunately, never quite as merry as the Coens think it is.

As with most of their engages, the Coens pile on unusual situations and oddb entirely characters with screwy names -- Vernon T. Waldrip and Wash Hogwallop here. Altho ugh the film seems punctuated by quirky twis! ts of fate, its all very contrived and the scripts seams inevitably show. On the other hand, O Brother, Where Art Thou? never lags because one... Barton Fink also a masterpiece of all their movies. If one contemplating on being writer over and over again, it rightfully worth to watch.
